Marbelling with Wonder Crystals

This technique works better with  many layers of crystals, as it need fluidity and wonder crystals are nice and chunky and great for creating this project.

I used, Celebration Blue in the background, Lemonello, Pistachio and Carnelian for the marbelling and worked as follows. Don't forget to use your wonder sheets as it  gives the finished piece enough flexibility to allow die cutting with a bigz or compatable die...as you have built up may layers you will get a small amount of cracking if you overflex your project but gently rewarming the piece will fix that.

Be careful not to burn your wonder crystals, but if you do, panic not...below is a little tip sheet to help.

if you are working a large piece concentrate on heating and marbelling small areas and move on as quickly as possible to limit the possibility of burning, but have fun too.

some Ideas with the finished piece...I started by backing the marbelled card with another sheet of wonder sheets and then used my feathers bigz die to cut out from the sheet. 1 pass only was needed.

the cut pieces are then stuck to fresh card. To enhance the background of the cut out feathers I used a Brusho equivalent and just spritzed the card and sprinkled a colour that was close to the red in the feathers.

The 'waste' I used my pebeo glas paints to carefully flood the feather with Vitrail Crimson and lightening medium...be careful here, I over flooded and had to keep turning the piece to prevent and the Prisme Green-gold and Moon Turquoise are not as vivid as they should be.
also, either prime your card before use or be aware that the glass paints will soak through the card and make sure your work surface is covered to prevent damage.

The fluidity of wonder crystals vary according to the size of the crystals, so for the finer crystals you would need more layers to reach a good fluidity. Below are sheets showing you various types of wonder crystal in the order of fluidity at 4 layers of wonder crystals.

well there you have it....another mad Patty idea, I hope you've enjoyed this blog and share your play with me...big hugs and catch you'all soon.
